Our Story

Since 1833, yes, eighteen thirty three, this community of faith has sought to engage people in Sharpsburg, Georgia and surrounding the areas for the kingdom cause of Jesus Christ.

This historic church has seen its ups and downs as the community has been through decades of change and transformation. The stability and firm foundation of the Word of God has, is, and always will be the anchor for our souls (Hebrews 6:19) and the guiding principles that move us into the future together.

Over the years Cokes Chapel has expanded to meet the community in some  incredible ways. The Cokes Chapel Childcare Center has been a dynamic ministry of the church which supports families in the name of Jesus through childcare, after school programs, summer camps, and many special events throughout the year. The Worship Center (as seen in picture) is regularly utilized for worship services, kids Chapel Time, and many other unique events like Lenten Meals at The Table or Pancakes with Santa.

At Cokes Chapel UMC we seek to remember our history while faithfully carrying on into the future as a  body of Christ right here in Sharpsburg, Georgia. We hope you will join us as we learn about God together, grow in discipleship together, and love together as Jesus loves us.
