“Serving Communion in the Church” on August 14.

Do you wish to participate in serving communion for 9 or 11 o’clock worship?  Pastor Lisa is asking all who want to take part in serving to attend this one day class at 10:10-10:45 in the Sanctuary.  This will also be the format to train for communion setup/clean up if you wish to be a communion steward.  Sign up for the class so that we have enough materials for each person by calling the church office or by emailing Barbara at office@cokeschapel.org.

Upcoming Sermon Series

Do you want to transform the world? Let’s start with us! What the World Needs Now …. Kindness & Love may oftentimes seem just too hard to reach for, but kindness can provide real traction in today’s world. Without fail, the few simple acts of kindness often make for viral news = because so little can take on such gravity in our hearts. Kindness is the key to introducing the way of Christ. Love may seem to forward, to false, but living with kindness bridges the gap. Considerations on kindness: the source of it; the strength in it; the witness of it. Join us for three weeks of “Kindness – A Way Forward” beginning August 14th.

Announcements 7/13/16

You may see some plywood…

and other signs of progress in the next weeks at the Chapel.  The Trustees are beginning the first steps to replace the door in the middle right wall of the sanctuary as it is unusable and rotting.  The Trustees are delighted to announce that we will be replacing the door with a custom stain glass window to complement the other windows.  There will be some occasions you will find temporary openings sealed with plywood as they replace and repair the wall/door area.

We look forward to the Sunday that we dedicate our final stain glass piece, and ask you to be patient with our progress.

Chapel Side

Next Sunday the Youth will be returning from the River of Life Mission Trip and will help in presenting both Worship Services. Please plan on being here and showing them the love and support that they have in our congregation!

Murphy Harpst Offering – This Sunday! We’ll be taking a special offering through the Conference for the Murphy Harpst Children’s Center, a non-profit organization that provides abused children with behavioral therapy, healthcare and educational services to give them a real chance at life.

Staff Parish Relationship Receives Resignation

Last week, our Youth Director Bobby Totten, submitted his resignation.  Following that, he also communicated directly with our Youth and Parents to let them know his decision.

Bobby has served our youth over 10 years, and is seeking to move into full time Youth ministry.  He is currently on staff at Cornerstone and will complete his Cokes Chapel commitments at the end of July.  He will be leading the River of Life mission as planned and on July 24, coordinate the Youth Sunday report for both worship services.

Bobby has said that he and his family will remain members of Coke’s Chapel, with the rest of the family still active in various ways as they are now, though his new position will preclude his involvement during worship.  We wish Bobby every success in continuing his ministry path, and ask that you keep him in your prayers, as well as our Youth in this time of change.

Regardless of who is our Youth Director, our youth need additional adult presence.  Please contact Pastor Lisa if you would be willing to be one of the folks that will be a spiritual guide, an encouraging presence and make a difference in our youth.  They need YOU to show your love by taking part in this ministry!

Your SPR committee requests your prayers and support as we begin a search for the right person to lead our Youth.  We are updating the job description and will begin the search promptly. We will keep you informed.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Will you sign up to help provide, set up and clean up the communion elements? These teams rotate on a monthly basis.  This is a wonderful opportunity to serve the members and visitors at Cokes Chapel.  Sign up sheets will be available in both services.  Please prayerfully consider signing up, and someone will be in contact with you!  Thank you! We also are in need of additional people to serve on the Care Team committee.  These teams rotate on a monthly basis and are responsible for sending out notes or making visits to visitors or members who may need some additional contact.  Do not confuse this with the Congregational Care Team which provides meals when needs arise.  This is merely sending notes, emails, and maybe a visit. Again, a sign up sheet will be available at both services. Thank you!
