From the daughters of Johnnie Lucille Drott Sharp: Terry, Edel & Laura (Known collectively, by our family as “the girls”). My sisters and I would like to thank our Cokes Chapel family for all the love, prayers, cards and food that you provided during the recent loss of our mom, Lu Sharp. There are no words that can express our gratefulness for the support given by all of you. Pastor Lisa, you truly celebrated her life the way she lived it: Joyfully and with humor. Thank you again.

FOUNDER’S DAY
Founders Day is this Sunday!  Come hear a little about our history.  Read below a snippet by Thom McCague:
One of the oldest churches in Coweta County, Cokes Chapel was established in 1833 and named for Bishop Thomas Coke, who was instrumental in helping to establish the Methodist Church in the United States.  Meeting initially under a bush arbor located at the Burt Hill Farm, off Hwy 154 and Lower Fayetteville Road. The congregation soon moved into its first structure, a log cabin, to the present 7-acre site, deeded to the church trustees for a cost of $25 in 1842. Here they worshiped until 1850, when the present structure, built by prominent Newnan builders R.D. Cole Manufacturers, was erected behind the original log cabin for a cost of $1,100.  With a few changes and modern conveniences, the church remains much as it was in 1850.  The adjacent cemetery was located on the property before the church with its first headstone dating back to 1839, with Confederate and Union soldiers, blacks, and whites, buried side by side.
