United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) Sunday (formerly One Great Hour of Sharing) is March 31, 2019.

For more than 50 years, congregations have taken part in UMCOR Sunday, laying the foundation for a ministry of relief and hope. Donations through this offering cover our cost of doing business. This allows 100% of all other giving to be used on the projects our donors specify, rather than in administrative or fundraising costs.
UMCOR does not receive United Methodist World Service or apportionment funds, so without your offerings, UMCOR would not exist.

Easter Hydrangeas
We will be decorating our church again this year with hydrangeas on Easter Sunday.  If you would like to purchase one ($20 each) of these beautiful  flowers in honor of, or in memory of someone, please fill out the signup sheet in the narthex or Worship Center.
Place the $20 cash or check in the envelop provide and make the check out to Cokes Chapel UMW (United Methodist Women) and place it in the collection plate. The deadline for ordering hydrangeas is March 31st.

Sunday Morning Offerings Vision Action Team Update!
This team has taken to heart the vision for us to unify our church. We have prayed and dreamed together, seeking ways to build relationships across the worship services.  We will have occasional unified gatherings that will have either a worship, study, or service, component.  Our faith and desire to grow together is seated in our faith in Jesus Christ.

Watch for Alerts for the congregation to upcoming unifying EVENTS at 10:10am Sundays, we are calling it “Meet in the Middle”.  A notice for these events will be highlighted by this logo.

Some questions you may have:

What is Meet in the Middle?
The purpose is to respond to God’s call to be a unified church in heart and in relationship with God and one another.

What happens when we Meet in the Middle?
We may have worship, service, or stud, events and it will be a time we are encouraged to meet members we don’t know.
It will be a time of celebration and fun – for when 2 or more are gathered….

How will this Meet in the Middle happen?
When we host an event, Sunday School classes are asked to forgo class that day, with the broader purpose of being a community gathered together in unity. Each may make accommodations as to how they will participate.

Why should I take part in Meet in the Middle?
You are uniquely you!  You bring your faith, gifts, graces to the community, and together we all are stronger, more able to do God’s work.  Your presence reflects your heart to be faithful to God’s call to be a unified body of Christ for the world to witness.

We will try to use 5th Sundays as part of our initiative for Unifying the church.  Some of our Unity with a Purpose gatherings will be on these “extra” Sundays in the year.

Our First Meet in the Middle will be Sunday, March 31.  We are asking everyone to come to the Worship Center/After School Room at 10:10 to help stuff over 3,000 eggs for our upcoming Easter Soc hop and hunt.  Classes that usually offer snacks and goodies are asked to bring them to the After-School room where we will meet.  Coffee will be provided!  Come, let’s get stuffed and have some fun preparing for our outreach to the community on Easter.  Please contact Pastor Lisa if you have questions and see the information in the bulletin about donations of eggs and candy.

In closing:
The Vision Action Team requests that each leader to pray for this unified opportunity.  Then, inform your work area, encouraging participation for our unity events and worship.  Our prayer is that we will Invite, love, and open, hearts to the movement of the Holy Spirit upon our vision work that it might lift us and point us all to the heart of God’s intentions for our community.

Thank you and God bless each of you!
Peace,
Pastor Lisa
