During October, Cokes Chapel will be collecting Chef Boyardee Variety Packs of 12 microwaveable bowls  and/or one case of 36 juice boxes.  These can be purchased at BJ’s and Sam’s for about $10 each.
Please place your donations in the narthex or WC.  If you prefer to make a monetary donation for this project, please designate it for Backpack Buddies.
BBQ – Sunday, October 21st
Our very own Floyd Collins and the men of Coke’s Chapel (Old Goat’s) are firing up the pits on Oct. 21st for the semi-annual BBQ plate which includes Brunswick stew, coleslaw, beans, chips & tea. $10  ticket.  This fall BBQ will benefit Troop 2193 and will be used to purchase troop equipment & scholarships for scouts in need. 10am to 2:30pm, carry out or dine in!  See a Scout or Old Goat for tickets or come by the church office.
There will also be pumpkins for sale to help support Scouts going to Sea Base in 2019.
After years of neglect the Infant and Toddler playground has been renovated and reopening this past Monday.  Don Cobb, Charlie Byrd, Jack Dempsey, Larry Huckaby, Kristin McCoy, Distiney Smith and Thom McCague all worked very hard to get this accomplished.

The Stewardship and Finance team are developing the 2019 budget.  This budget is a projected need for the coming year of ministry.  Right now, all the Committees are making plans for ministry and evaluating the needs/costs.
Cokes Chapel maintains a tremendous local and world presence through your generosity.  Our prayerful hope is that you will be thinking of what God is calling Cokes to do and how you will participate by your prayers, presence, giving and service in 2019.
Then, after you discern what God is calling you to do, we ask that you return the Service Opportunities 2019 sheet, and the confidential Giving Card *(envelope provided) to the church office or to the boxes in the narthex.  Help Finance by returning these commitment cards by Sunday, October 21st
Your faithful commitments are doing Kingdom building for Christ!  Thank you for your generous and loving hearts.
In His Service,
Your Finance, Stewardship team, & Pastor Lisa

Mission Statement: To restore children and families from trauma through Jesus Christ.
Vision: Envision a world where every child is raised in a loving, compassionate, and nurturing home.
Donations from churches like ours serve thousands of children in Georgia.  We impact and improve the lives of children in foster care through this program.  UMCH does not receive apportionments so this offering if vital to the services provided.  100% of the gifts collected goes directly to the UMCH programs.
In addition to your normal tithes, please consider donating generously to this program.  A separate insert and a donation envelop will be included in the bulletin for your information and use.
Everyone, please join the UMW on Wednesday, September 19th for their monthly supper in the Fellowship Hall starting at 6:00pm.  Bring a covered dish to share with everyone.  Plan to join us for a fun evening and bring a friend!

In keeping with the Outdoor Nativity Scene, artistically inclined volunteers are needed to help the Boy Scouts.  They are at the stage of putting the details on the figures and it will require people to help guide the Boy Scouts while also participating in painting within the lines.  For more information or to volunteer your services, please contact Thom McCague at (404) 200-2167 or email: dmmccague@gmail.com or Cliff Seyler at (252) 562-3077 or email:  cliffcfc@yahoo.com.

As we seek to follow God’s will as individuals and as a church, there are two important questions we should always be asking: 1) “Where have we seen God at work?” and 2) “Where is God calling us to go?”
Join your church family as we journey together in this church-wide study, sharing our stories and experiences of God as individuals and as a congregation. Following our times of sharing and listening, we will explore the question of what God might be calling us to do together.
