Trustees will not have a meeting on 6/20 due to Father’s Day.
Instead we will meet alongside the Childcare board on 6/16, 6:30pm Wednesday at the Worship Center.
The Childcare has several requests to take care of to get ready for the addition of the 2nd Prek
1. moving the After school room to the Worship Center permanently
2. storage and organization request in the WC
The goal is to make sure the WC space is still usable for larger church events as needed. How can the Trustees help to coordinate?
The Childcare also has a request for larger storage in the playground. Jimmy contacted each trustee, we have no objections as long as the storage unit is anchored and has a solid or concrete floor.
Jimmy would also like to discuss grounds trash cleanup around the childcare building and cutting or removing the tall plantings on the outside of the retention pond so the security cameras have a better line of sight. (This will be an add on cost from whoever we use, Abby, or Beam.) Do we need signs to post that it is under surveillance?
Parsonage septic main line clog removed and pumped – possible plumbing issue in the future. waiting for invoice.
Parsonage HVAC old unit maintenanced needs to be replaced, it fails often. Service call and freon cost paid by donation.
Lara McCarthy, Trustee

United Methodist Women (UMW):
- UMW will meet on Thursday morning in the FH at 10 AM. We will plan for specific upcoming events: (A.) Jo Anne Brown’s Memorial Luncheon in the Worship Center following the service. We are responsible for desserts, bread and drinks. UMW will need assistance with the desserts. If you could bring a dessert to the Worship Center prior to the service, we would greatly appreciate your help. (B.) We will also plan Kim Reindl’s Appreciation Reception following the service on June 27th in the Fellowship Hall. We will serve ice cream and cake to show our appreciation for the work Kim has done for Cokes over the past 7 years. All are invited to each celebration.
- We will continue with Chapter 1 “The Attitude of Gratitude” in the book Attitude is Your Paint Brush, It Colors Every Situation by James W. Moore.
- The ladies have decided we will wait for Pastor Carson to determine the status of the little food pantry.
- Thank you to all who loved Pastor Lisa and wished her a happy retirement. Everyone had a wonderful time around the table with friends, family and food.

Oops . . I got ahead of the schedule for first week of the “catsup” write-up and put it in last week instead of starting this week. This week is a repeat, but there will be new write-ups each week over the the next 4 weeks as we lead up to Pastor Carson’s first Sunday in Worship.

“Who Needs Catsup?”
Why we all do! It’s the added extra, the dressing on hot fries, the glorious red spot on the front of your shirt that says “I ate with Catsup today and I am proud of it!”
Turning the spelling around a bit, we can hear the same word but find a different meaning. Catch Up. Yes, catch up, like bring things up to snuff. Get back up in the front of the race even when you are behind. Cokes has an opportunity to bring the Catch Up action to our finances as we receive our new pastor. One of the many concerning areas that pastors address is financial stability and well being of the church. It is a reflection of spiritual discipline. Due to many influences, our giving has dropped. Perhaps if you haven’t attended, you don’t give. Perhaps you have had personal circumstances that have affected you. What ever your circumstance, please take the next weeks to pray, listen to what God is revealing, and consider bringing your “catch-up” offering to the altar on the first Sunday that Pastor Carson arrives.
Imagine how moving it will be for his new congregation to show their investment in Cokes and his new ministry by coming forward to lay your above and beyond giving or catch up offering at the end of service. Praying over your gifts and for your new Pastor.
This sacrificial giving can be a tangible, physical and spiritual movement of the church, unified together as one to start your journey together.
Won’t you pray and then prepare to take part? And the answer to the question of who needs catsup? Well – both kinds of Catsup and Catch up! Of course!
In Other Conference News…. Financial support for Cokes Chapel UMC provided!
Beginning June 1, 2021, for a period of three months (June, July, and August), the North Georgia Conference Board of Pension and Health Benefits will fund the church portion of HealthFlex health insurance premiums from the CBOPHB “Current Benefits Reserve” fund.
“We recognize that many of our churches are continuing to adapt to new patterns of giving,” said Charles Darden, chair of the Conference Board of Pension. “The Board of Pension is blessed to have adequate reserves that we can use to cover the health insurance premiums that would otherwise be paid by the churches for a period of three months, beginning June 1”
This action was approved by the Conference Board of Pension on Wednesday, March 17.
June billing from the Conference Benefits Office will reflect this decision. Churches will still be billed for pension and the participants’ portion of the health insurance.
This marks the second time that the CBOPHB has offered this holiday. They used reserves to cover the church portion of HealthFlex premiums for three months of 2020.

The Prayer Team has returned to in-person gatherings. We meet at 5:00 pm on Wednesday nights in the Fellowship Hall. If the Fellowship Hall is in use we will meet in the Eubanks Classroom. Please join us!

MINISTRY MESSAGE: INTER-GENERATIONAL & YOUTH MINISTRY, June 16, 2021:
In Inter-generational Ministry, everyone is welcome as the Inter-generational Sunday School Class gathers in-person before worship each week in the Worship Center from 8:40-9:40 AM. In this month’s unit we are exploring the ways that God revealed God’s self as evidenced in the Bible: through self-declaration, quietness, visions, love, and most importantly, Jesus. This coming Sunday, June 20th, we will study Kings 19:8-14 and discuss how God’s presence is experienced in the stillness.
God is at work all around us! May we hold each other by heart and lift each other by prayer as we seek to follow in the way of Christ!
With love,
Kim
