How is Our Communion Offering Used?

Every Sunday we have a basket available for our Communion Offering.  The money that you give is divided three ways and distributed monthly or as needed.  Here is a reminder about where the Communion Offering goes.

One Roof – One Roof serves needy people in our area by providing food, clothing, and other emergency needs.  The Coweta County Food Pantry is housed at One Roof, and clothing and other items are available at the One Roof Thrift Store.  One Roof also has a women’s shelter, The Lodge.

Luthersville Senior Center – The Center is housed in an old school in Luthersville. The seniors come together three days a week for sharing devotionals, praying, singing favorite church songs, quilting, having lunch, and offering support to each other.  Cokes Chapel folks visit the center quarterly, taking part in their devotional time and then serving lunch to the group.

Needy Family Fund – This part of the offering helps people in our church and community who are having trouble with basic needs such as bills, rent, and food.

Mark your calendars!!

Southern Picnic and Silent Auction

Saturday, August 14, 2021 – 6:00 pm

All proceeds will benefit our missionaries –  the Earles in Italy, the Haddens in South Dakota, and the Houles in Thailand

If you have items – a “like-new” item, a “place” to share (at the beach, the lake, mountains, or other fun spot), or anything else you think would be a good addition to our auction – please let us know.
Contact Betsy Bagley or any other Outreach Committee member.

United Methodist Women (UMW):

UMW met on July 15 with 11 members present plus Pastor Carson:

  1. We are happy to welcome Karen Seyler to our group.
  2. We continue to recognize those who need of prayers: Nancy Williams, Charlotte Mitchell and Kaye Beam.
  3. Return of Wednesday Evening Supper – We will have hotdogs and hamburgers on September 15.  Although most all of our Wednesday suppers are FREE, this one will be a FUND RAISER for UMW.  Please put this on your calendar for food, fun and fellowship.  We will begin to sell tickets once the Auction is over.
  4. We will continue to water and pull weeds in the Mia Garden and in the front of the church.
  5. UMW will assist Childcare with the Back to School Celebration on July 28th.  We will prepare 60 ham and cheese sandwiches and provide 150 cookies. If anyone would like to contribute a dozen cookies, please let V. Snyder know via email.
  6. UMW has agreed to volunteer time to clean and organize the extra office and the supply room.  Pastor Carson suggested we also organize and purge the library. If you would like to help us, we will be in the Fellowship Hall on Friday the 23rd and Monday the 26th at 10 AM.
  7. The decision was made to wait until the Fall regarding the reinstatement of the small FOOD PANTRY.
  8. Our next meeting is August 19th. We plan to take the bus (if the bus is available) to Barnstormers in Williamson, GA after the meeting.  If others would like to join us, please let V. Snyder know.  You know the more the merrier!!!!

United Methodist Men (UMM):
