G Chat June 4, 2020

Recently our District Superintendent, Susan Landry, offered an opportunity for those interested to meet by Zoom to discuss the issue of racial division.  The purpose is to begin with work on ourselves, on our relationships with one another and then we might determine next steps together.
It was timely, and significantly, Susan offered this before the recent death of George Floyd and further unrest.  I believe in the providence of God, and believe we all have a Christian responsibility to grow in our relationships and love.
Pray with me and for our group as we seek better methods and ways of being examples that light the way for peace.  Thank you to Margie Jones, who is joining us after I told her what I was involved in.  We are truly a church that loves well!  Love, Pastor Lisa

“Our Shepherd”

Scripture  Psalm 16

NEW SERMON SERIES STARTS JUNE 28TH – HOT TIME IN THE SUMMERTIME!
Some of the most intriguing stories in the Bible have to do with heat.  Fire and the presence of God make for lasting impressions in both the Old and New Testament.  Plan now to be with us for exploring how God gets our attention.  Escape the heat of summer, come into the cool for worship and experience the fire that comes from being in God’s presence!  Sundays, June 28th through July 9th

Our Food Pantry is at work in our community.  We have had several families contact us during the past few weeks to ask for help with food.  We met with them and were able to provide food for these families and their young children.  We are planning to make the pantry more available in the future.  We will need donations of food and will let you know next week where and when to drop them off. Most needed items are:

spaghetti and spaghetti sauce

peanut butter and jelly

canned meats

baked beans

egg noodles

macaroni and cheese

dry beans

rice

crackers

cereal

canned vegetables (other than green beans and corn)

INTERGENERATIONAL, YOUTH, & CHILDREN’S DISCIPLESHIP

This week’s Inter-generational Sunday School lesson focuses on Isaiah 58:1-14.  In this Sunday’s Scripture passage, the Israelites are struggling to connect with God and build a just society. The lesson will explore issues of justice and righteousness and how the faith community is to support right relationship with God and neighbor.

If you would like to be included in the email list and receive the lesson each week, please contact Kim Reindl at kim.reindl@gmail.com.  Each lesson includes commentary to help enlighten your study, questions for thought and reflection, as well as an optional activity that can be done at home with children and/or youth.

In Youth Ministry, we are in the process of developing a summer plan for our “new normal.”  Our guiding Scripture is Psalm 105:3—”Let the hearts rejoice of all those seeking the Lord!”
Our goal is to continue to create grace filled environments where young people are actively SEEKing to walk in the way of Christ for the sake of the world. (Service, Exploration, Engagement, Kinship)

God is at work all around us!  May we hold each other by heart and lift each other by prayer as we journey together, yet apart!
With love,
Kim
