TRUSTEES AND FINANCE announced this week that Cokes Chapel UMC has received the loan/grant for funding of the Cokes Chapel Childcare for 8 weeks of payroll and selected other expenses. We are thankful and delighted to have this stimulus fund to maintain the employees and staff that make our Child Care the Best Ever!
Giving praise and a prayer of thanksgiving for this momentous event in the history of Cokes Chapel.
WORSHIP INFORMATION

Continue to join us each week on Cokes Chapel Facebook for Sunday morning worship! You will receive an invitation and link to connect!
Coming this Sunday: “Let’s Take a Walk!” Luke 24: 13-35. Reflections on the road to Emmaus and our journey with Jesus.
A note from your Pastor on Video recording for Worship:
Thank you folks for bearing with an unschooled pastor who can’t quite figure out where to look or where the camera lens is, or how to relate to you when all I see is a picture of me talking while I preach. God bless you for your patience and God help all us preachers as we turn it all over to the Holy Spirit and pray you find God in the midst of our learning curves. You are missed and loved – how dear your faces are to me in my memory! Pastor Lisa

OUTREACH UPDATE
Cokes Chapel folks love their Outreach missions, so it is hard when we are not able to get together. We miss singing at Newnan Nursing and Rehab, delivering Meals on Wheels, visiting and serving Luthersville Seniors, packing bags for Backpack Buddies, and others. Until we are together again, what we can do is pray every day for these groups and for our missionaries, the Houles, the Haddens, and Caleb – for them to stay safe and healthy!

COMMITTEE ON FINANCE REPORT
As we told you last week, we have been awaiting word on the Protection Payroll Program Loan/Grant. This past Saturday we were notified that we will be awarded the funds and they are presently in the Childcare Banking Account. Praise God! The Church and Childcare leadership will begin to learn as much as they possibly can regarding how these can be used to satisfy the forgiveness of the loan. Garnett Reynolds from Truist Bank (BB&T + Sun Trust) has been extremely helpful through this process with his guidance and encouragement. We needed his help several times for guidance and he was quick to assist us.
This past week we worked to revise the April, May and June budget and consider cash flow. It was recommended that we take the first three months of the year and average both income and expenses. Marcia Smith, bookkeeper, sent us a combined operating statement for the church to analyze. The findings are below:
INCOME – January – March
Total income $67,785.18 (monthly average of $22,595.06)
Revised Projected monthly average of $22,595.06 General Funds (These funds were collected at church during normal times)

Current total General Funds (budgeted) for April 1 – April 30, 2020 are $15,217.30
The Bank Account as of Tuesday at 5:11 PM = $94,402.42
EXPENSES – January – March
Total expenses $72,478.92 (monthly average of $24,159.67)
Minus Healthflex Insurance $1250 Conference Board of Pensions to cover church portion of Pastor’s Healthflex
Minus YH Loan deferment $898.12 BB&T deferment of Loan (principle and interest varies)
Minus CCC Loan interest $3440.41 Interest of CCC Loan (a Trustee budgeted expense)
Revised Projected Expenses $18,571.14

The committee will make every effort to keep you informed regarding the financial status of the church during these unusual times. Please don’t forget to give. The staff is still at work and the lights are still on. Not only can you give on-line, you can drop your tithe off at the church office through the NEW slot in the office door or you can send it by U.S. Mail. Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness to keep God’s house alive and well.
If you go forth in LOVE, you will find your PEACE.

INTERGENERATIONAL, YOUTH, & CHILDREN’S DISCIPLESHIP
In Inter-generational Ministry, the Sunday School Class will continue with “at home” learning through Bible lessons re-written to be used by individuals and families at home. This week we will be exploring Jesus’ final resurrection story in the gospel of Luke, where Jesus commissions the disciples and offers them God’s peace (Luke 24:36-53). Each lesson includes commentary to help enlighten your study, questions for thought and reflection, as well as an optional activity that can be done at home with children and/or youth. If you would like to be included in this email list and receive the lesson each week, please contact Kim Reindl at kim.reindl@gmail.com.
In Youth Ministry, our youth held another Zoom Youth Group meeting on Sunday, April 19th. It was great to “see” everyone through the gift of technology. We were able to check-in with one another, pray together, have a “Bible Trivia” competition, study the Scripture and discuss the passage in small groups, and commit to a Card Ministry as a way to serve others in our congregation and beyond. (If you or someone you know are in need of a little extra encouragement at this time and would appreciate a card from one of our youth, please contact Kim Reindl at kim.reindl@gmail.com). This coming Sunday, April 26, the youth will have a Zoom Game Night where we will spend time playing games together online! It should be an adventure!
God is at work all around us! May we hold each other by heart and lift each other by prayer as we journey together, yet apart! With love, Kim
