Calling All Men!
Interest in a United Methodist Men’s (UMM) group has come to our attention!  UMM is a men’s ministry that engages in service, mission, evangelism, discipleship and of course fellowship!
Cliff Seyler has “fond memories of monthly gatherings where we enjoyed fellowship, breakfast, had local and church speakers and other programs & activities.  All men, sons and guests were always welcome”.  He has offered to host a first-time interest meeting to garner YOUR ideas & interests.
Join Cliff and others on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 11:00-12:30 for a delicious lunch, a gathering of your interests and next steps to begin this exciting new facet of ministry for men.  “Using the UMM purpose as a guide.  I know that we can be a positive force in our church & community”.

Questions?  Email Cliff at cliffcfc14@gmail.com so we can plan for your lunch.
Be a part of something new, something fresh, something fun & meaningful!

The 2020 District Training Event will be held on Saturday, February 1st, at Fayetteville First UMC.  This year’s event will begin at 9:00 am with “Breakfast Church”, which will be a Fresh Expressions workshop following the format of the popular Dinner Church.  Following breakfast, participants will then choose from 8 different workshops and participate in one training session from 10:15-11:30 am.  Please contact Pastor Lisa if you’d like more information or to sign up.  More info to come.

Facilities Maintenance

Please be aware that SPR has eliminated the Facilities Maintenance position for Cokes Capel and has requested that trustees fulfill repairs and maintenance with volunteers whenever possible.  If you are a member, or friend of Cokes Chapel, that would be willing to donate your skills (repair work, landscape or gardening) to the church in helping to maintain our buildings or beautify the grounds, please contact a trustee.  If you become aware of a repair that is necessary, Trustee Lee Harrison has volunteered to take the incoming reports.  He can be reached by phone or email:  Lee Harrison, mlee.harrison@gmail.com, cell: 678-591-4246.

“Methodist Beliefs” Seminar

Ever wondered what United Methodists believe?  How is our denomination the same as or different from other denominations when it comes to thinking about and talking about God?

Every denomination or church has a particular way that we think about and/or talk about God (regardless of whether we choose to claim it).  The way that we think about and/or talk about God is called our theology.  In the United Methodist Church, we follow a Wesleyan theology and tradition, which is rooted in an emphasis on God’s love and grace.  When it comes down to it, at the heart of our understanding of God is the belief that God is love (1 John 4:8).  Our theology not only reflects what we think, but it also shapes what we think and what we do.

The congregation is invited to join the Cokes Chapel Leadership Team for this one-time seminar exploring “Methodist Beliefs.”

NEWS FROM OUR MISSIONARY, Caleb Earle, From Cape Verde, Africa
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones! Praying for you all as we enter this new year that God would show you more of Himself and that you would find more and more peace as you serve Him this year.
We just arrived in Cape Verde and are settling in well. We spent the first 3 months in Italy, as you know, working with several different ministry projects in the area.
As we settle into life in Africa, pray for us in these areas:
               > for our transition, as Africa is opposite in every way from Italy.  People are open to God, the church is growing and it hot here! Italy has been super cold, folks difficult to reach.  Pray for our wisdom.
               > courage as new projects move students’ out of their comfort zones.
               > as I begin preparation for Camp in Italy, for volunteers and strength.
Once again, thank you so much for your generosity and being willing to support my ministry here in prayer and financially! You are making a difference! Looking forward to being with you when I come back in July! Happy New Year!  Caleb
