COMBINED WORSHIP / PANCAKE BREAKFAST FOR MISSIONS
Join us for our first Missions Fundraiser for our 3 missionaries families (Pancake breakfast at 9:00 am – bought your tickets yet?) $ 5 per adult and $ 2 per child. There will be a combined worship at 10:30 am to follow.  Come support our missionaries!

2017 GIVING STATEMENTS are now available for pick up and will be made available in 9 and 11 o’clock information table.   During the week, they will be available at the office during office hours. Save us a stamp, pick yours up today! Reply to this email if you’d like your copy emailed.

CHILDCARE AID FUND – Our Childcare Center needs contributions to our Financial Aid Fund. This fund helps our parents defray some of the costs of daycare for their children. DISTRICT TRAINING EVENT – Jan. 28, ALL Clergy and Committee Chairs: Make plans to go or send a representative from your committee to attend this training event where workshops will be offered for: SPR, Finance, Trustees, Church Council, One Board Structure, UMCOR & Disaster Response, Church Security, Faith Sharing, Safe Sanctuary training, and a mission project for children. Sign up with the church office so we may take the church bus.

LENTEN SERIES:  “Some Things Never Change… or Can They? “. Yes, our nature as humans will always be fraught with the marks of sin.  God’s message of constant redemption within the struggle is always present, but do we hear it, respond to it?  Old stories, new lives: by the grace of God – We can change! 
Join us on Ash Wednesday for a special evening service on Feb. 14,  and then Sundays, Feb.  18 through March 18.

UMCOR EARLY RESPONSE TRAINING  Want to help when natural disasters hit our neighbors? Take training that will allow you to truly assist! 

The North Georgia Conference will offer a slate of UMCOR ERT and Spiritual and Emotional Care training Jan. 20th. (alternate dates and locations online) Additional site-specific details will be communicated following registration.   January 20 – Cornerstone UMC 8:30 to 4 pm Cost is $10 payable at the door and includes training material. Youth Delegates Needed for 2018 Annual Conference June 24 The LaGrange District must provide 4 youth, ages 14-18, to serve as delegates to Annual Conference, June 12-14, 2018.  Applications are now available from the District Office or on the Children/Youth page of the district website (www.ngumc.org/lagr).  Deadline for submission is January 19 and must include a recommendation from the pastor.  The district will cover hotel expenses for delegates selected.

 NEW SERMON SERIES – HEARING GOD

Join us as we explore some of the many occasions when God has spoken.  From Old Testament to New Testament, to today; lives are directed & changed, and the Kingdom of God is coming near.  Learning from these stories of theophany, God speaking, so we too can respond to God’s Voice.  Sunday’s Jan. 7, 14, & 21.

January 7th Epiphany of the Lord “What Gifts Can We Offer?”  Matthew 2: 1-12

The wise men brought out of their bounty and out of a sure knowledge that they would encounter a Magnificent Revelation that deserved worship and gifts.  Learning to listen and follow – not only to the call forward but beyond, as we move past the “Holy Moment” that God has brought us to. The Gift of Listening to God.
