Weekly “Recollection” Update, Week 4This week our classes focused on “Who Are We Narratively?”  For homework, participants were asked to write their individual faith stories.  In class, people had the opportunity to share their favorite stories of the Bible and to share stories of their experiences here at Cokes Chapel.  It’s been remarkable to hear so many stories of how people have been loved and supported by the folks here at Cokes Chapel.  Furthermore, it is meaningful to know that we can share stories of challenge and disappointment as well, acknowledging that such is also part of what it means to share life together.  Through it all, we are seeing the depths of the bonds that hold us as a church family.  We are seeing how God has been with us all along, strengthening, teaching, and loving us through one another!

Weekly “Recollection” Update, Week 2—This week our classes focused on “Who Are We Historically?”  For homework, participants were asked to create both life and faith timelines.  Many emphasized how the exercise opened their eyes to how God has been present in their lives and has drawn them into Christian community in unexpected ways.  In class, participants reviewed the Cokes Chapel Historical Timeline.  There was much excitement about this with folks discovering interesting facts about our history that they were unaware of.  (Reviewing our history could be a class in itself!)  In small groups, participants created group timelines, naming dates and experiences that were important to them.  Everyone enjoyed hearing each other’s stories, especially stories of how people came to Cokes Chapel and stories of happy times together.  One group stated, we “gave thanks for the warmth, acceptance, love and welcoming spirit of Cokes Chapel.”

BACKPACK BUDDIES COLLECTION

FINAL WEEK TO REGISTER!!!
As we seek to follow God’s will as individuals and as a church, there are two important questions we should always be asking: 1) “Where have we seen God at work?” and 2) “Where is God calling us to go?”
Join your church family as we journey together in this church-wide study, sharing our stories and experiences of God as individuals and as a congregation. Following our times of sharing and listening, we will explore the question of what God might be calling us to do together.
