CALLING ALL ADULTS!!!—Sign-up Now for the Church-wide ADVENT STUDY!
How might you have felt if you were Zechariah or Elizabeth, Mary or Joseph?  What if you had been an angel, a shepherd, or one of the wise men?  In an innovative approach to the stories of Advent, we will be invited to become part of the events surrounding the birth of the Christ child.   Each week, we will enter into the story for a while, exploring it from the perspective of its central figures.

This church-wide Advent study, “Taste and See,” will be offered to kids during Children’s Church, youth during Youth Group, and preached from on Sundays during Advent.  Adults have the opportunity to participate by signing-up for one of the weekly adult classes listed below.  Study:  “Taste and See:  Experiencing the Stories of Advent and Christmas,” by Jan Johnson Length: 4 Weeks Dates and Times:  Sundays, Nov. 20th-Dec. 11th, 5:00-6:30 PM (Leader:  Kim Reindl) OR  Tuesdays, Nov. 22nd-Dec. 13th, 10:30-12:00 PM (Leader:  Rev. A day that our nation recognizes and honors those who have served our country in any of our Armed forces during peace and war times. Armed forces include Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Air Force and National Guard.  Sunday, November 13, at 10:15, between our two worship services, Cokes Chapel will host a Veterans Day Recognition.  We will raise our flag, sing, pray, read names, and sound a volley from the small cannon to mark this occasion.  Everyone is invited to a reception following the service in the cafeteria off of the Contemporary Worship Center.  Email office@cokeschapel.org or call 770-253-6052

If you wish to make a monetary gift to support this year’s Thanksgiving Basket outreach, please make your checks out to Cokes Chapel UMC and mark Thanksgiving Baskets on the memo line. The UMM are collecting used, outgrown, ill-fitting, gently-worn, out-of-style, no longer needed/wanted men’s, women’s and kids’ shoes of any kind.  They are supporting a local non-profit named Soaring High on Faith. There will be bins available at both worship services to drop off your donations.  The collection runs to this Sunday, November 13th.

We will be decorating the facilities for the Advent and Christmas season on Sunday, November 20th from 3-5pm.  As is our custom, we will share in a covered dish chili supper, so bring a pot of your favorite recipe to share.
Our Angel Trees are being set up on Sunday, November 20th in the Narthex and Contemporary Worship Center. Simply pull names from the tree and complete the sign-up sheet by the appropriate child’s name/wish list item. It is very important that we have your name by the gift that you select to purchase. All gifts should be wrapped, tagged with the child’s name and age, and returned by December 11th.
Ladies from the UMW will be selling pecans between services this Sunday, November 13th.  They are $12/bag and are simply a necessity for holiday baking.
